Producer // Mix engineer
Purna is a non-binary Indo-Canadian producer and mix engineer for live instruments in pop, rock, indie, alternative, folk and country. She helps bands and artists shape their songs from start to finish to create high-quality, marketable and radio-ready music.
Highly invested in any production or mixing project she takes on, Purna offers a full songwriting and production package. From lyrics and songwriting structure, to producing and/or mixing, Purna works closely with artists throughout the entire creative process to ensure their creative visions are brought to life.
With 14 years of experience as an underrepresented individual in the industry, she is an advocate for inclusion and is sensitive to the needs of womxn, LGBTQ, and others who may face discrimination.
Mostly recently, Purna co-wrote and produced her debut single, "Chemical Romance," and mixed the acoustic version (available for free here).
NOTE: Purna has been on a temporary pause from her music career since April 2021 due to severe chronic illness and disability. She has been fully focused on recovering from Long Covid, which resulted in Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS, a serious heart condition) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), which has impacted her brain funtions, including ability to listen to and make music.
With high hopes as she takes steps forward in her recovery, she intends to be back to work in 2024. At that time, she will increase her professional training in MIDI compositions for future productions with pop/rock artists, and her own music, amongst other projects.
“Working with Purna is like working with your super-smart, super-talented best friend. I've had the pleasure of collaborating on a few projects with her [co-writing and production] and all sessions can be summed up as productive, fun, and pseudo-therapeutic.” - Cindy Cote (formerly of Sindication)
“I worked with Purna recording serveral projects, some for her , some for me. She is professional and goal oriented. What I appreciated the most was how comfortable she made me feel in the studio. It was easy for me to give my best !! Thanks Purna :)” - Matthew Bouchard (formerly of Out Reason, now solo artist)
